Microneedling

Microneedling involves using a device with fine needles to create tiny punctures on the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing process, promoting collagen and elastin production. As a result, microneedling can improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and enhance overall skin tone and elasticity. It’s a versatile treatment suitable for various skin types and concerns.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a process that involves using sterile surgical-grade needles to puncture hundreds of tiny holes in the skin. This controlled injury induces the skin to go into healing mode, stimulating collagen and elastin production. Collagen is a crucial protein responsible for maintaining skin’s firmness and elasticity, while elastin helps the skin snap back into place, reducing the appearance of sagging and wrinkles. As these micro-injuries heal, they promote the regeneration of new skin cells, leading to a smoother and more youthful complexion.

This process plumps the skin and may improve the appearance of fine lines, dull texture, and pores. Microneedling is a versatile treatment suitable for various skin concerns, including acne scars, stretch marks, and sun damage. Patients typically experience minimal discomfort and downtime, making it an appealing option for those seeking a non-surgical solution to enhance their skin’s overall health and appearance. For optimal and lasting results, a series of microneedling sessions performed at regular intervals is recommended, allowing the skin to continually benefit from increased collagen and elastin production.

What Does Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling is a versatile cosmetic procedure renowned for its ability to address a wide range of skin concerns. It is commonly used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, effectively rejuvenating the skin. Additionally, microneedling is effective in minimizing the appearance of acne scars, improving skin texture, and reducing the size of enlarged pores. It can also be used to fade stretch marks and reduce the effects of sun damage, making it a popular choice for individuals seeking to enhance their skin’s overall appearance and health.

Catalyze Your Microneedling Results

Radiofrequency Microneedling
Radiofrequency (RF) adds the element of radiofrequency energy to microneedling. The RF energy heats the skin as well as enhances the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. This combination of microneedling and RF is known as radiofrequency microneedling. It offers the benefits of both techniques, promoting skin tightening, reducing wrinkles, and improving overall skin texture. By delivering controlled thermal energy deep into the skin, radiofrequency microneedling provides more comprehensive and long-lasting results.

PRP Microneedling
Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) is also available with microneedling. Platelets are found in the blood and contain growth factors that promote cell regeneration and repair. When PRP is added to microneedling, the effects are enhanced. It can be used on its own or to enhance procedures like microneedling, skin resurfacing, and scar revision. We can prepare your own platelet-rich plasma by drawing your blood and centrifuging it to collect concentrated platelets in a tube.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of microneedling sessions you’ll need can vary depending on your specific skin concerns and goals. In general, a series of 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, is often recommended to achieve optimal results. However, your practitioner will tailor the treatment plan to your individual needs, and some individuals may see noticeable improvements after just one session. Maintenance sessions may also be advised to sustain the benefits of microneedling over time.

The Microneedling Session: What to Expect

Before the session begins, a thorough consultation with a trained practitioner is essential to discuss your goals, medical history, and any concerns. To ensure a comfortable procedure, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, oils, or debris. In many cases, a topical numbing cream will be applied to minimize discomfort. This cream typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes to take effect, during which you can relax and prepare for the treatment.

Once the numbing cream has adequately numbed the skin, the microneedling procedure begins. A specialized device equipped with tiny, sterile needles is used to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin.

The depth and intensity of the needles may vary depending on your specific skin concerns and the practitioner’s recommendations. During this phase, you may feel a slight sensation of pressure, but the numbing cream helps keep discomfort to a minimum.

After microneedling, your skin may appear red and feel sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. This is a normal reaction that typically subsides within a day or two. Your practitioner will apply a soothing serum or moisturizer to help calm the skin. It’s crucial to follow post-treatment instructions, which often include avoiding direct sunlight, using gentle skincare products, and refraining from vigorous activities that may cause excessive sweating for a few days.
