E. Gaylon McCollough, MD FACS

E. Gaylon McCollough, MD FACS, the founder and leading surgeon at the McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic, is a distinguished figure in the field of plastic surgery. With a career spanning five decades, Dr. McCollough has not only achieved international recognition as a skilled surgeon and educator but has also authored three textbooks on facial and nasal plastic surgery and twenty-two non-medical books. Dr. McCollough is married to the former Miss University of Alabama, Miss Alabama International, and “Art Tour International’s 2017 ‘Artist of the Year’, Susan Nomberg (Dothan, AL). The couple has two children, Sted and Chanee, and four grandchildren.

Following his residency training, Dr. McCollough completed an accredited program of specialized training in facial plastic surgery in Beverly Hills, California; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Boston, Massachusetts. He is board-certified by two specialty boards, each focused on regional plastic surgery: the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology, specializing in head and neck surgery.

Furthermore, Dr. McCollough is the co-author of three major textbooks on facial and nasal plastic surgery and two non-medical books: “Shoulders of Giants” and “Before and After.” He also authored “The Appearance Factor,” which is considered one of the world’s most comprehensive consumer guides on enhancing appearance, well-being, and performance.

  • 1975: Founded the McCollough Institute for Appearance and Health in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
  • 1980: Served as president of the American Association of Cosmetic Surgeons.
